Worker Falls to Death In Town of Oyster Bay Waste Facility

A contractor working on a building in the Town of Oyster Bay Solid Waste Disposal Complex fatally fell through the roof of a garage under construction early Thursday afternoon.

Multiple emergency service agencies responded to the Town of Oyster Bay Solid Waste Disposal Complex in Old Bethpage, New York just before 11AM on Thursday afternoon for reports that a construction worker fell through the roof of a building. The building was under construction at the time, when the incident occurred.

Nassau County Police Department Homicide Squad detectives say that the Eighth Precinct responded to the property at 101 Bethpage Sweet Hollow Road in Old Bethpage, New York for a 56-year-old male victim that fell through the roof of the garage while working. Police say that the victim sustained severe trauma injuries after falling.

A Nassau County Police Medic at the scene pronounced the worker dead at the scene.

The Town of Oyster Bay Solid Waste Disposal Complex remains closed at this time while the investigation into this fatal incident continues.
