Woman Killed In Long Island Expressway Crash Involving Truck

SYOSSET, NY - A 53-year-old woman was killed after a crash involving a large box truck occurred in the eastbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway early Saturday morning.

Nassau County Police Highway Patrol and the Syosset and Jericho Fire Departments responded to the eastbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway at around 2:30AM after a collision occurred between a 2018 Jeep Renegade and a 2018 Hino commercial box truck.

Police say that both vehicles were heading eastbound, just west of Exit 43 when the crash happened. It is unclear what the cause of the crash was at this time, but the Jeep sustained heavy rear-end damage from where the truck collided with it.

The driver of the Jeep, a 53-year-old woman, was transported to a local area hospital and pronounced dead at 3:08AM by hospital staff. A passenger inside the Jeep was transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the truck was transported to a local area hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
