Woman, Child Rescued from High Rise Apartment Fire in Harlem

FDNY firefighters fought a fire in a 16-story apartment complex in Harlem, New York where at least two people have been injured, and a woman and child were rescued from the building.

9-1-1 calls reporting smoke coming from the high rise apartment building prompted firefighters to respond to 470 Lenox Avenue just after 1:30pm.

Firefighters confirmed fire on the top floor of the apartment building at around 1:45pm. An “all-hands” response was called by the command on the scene of the fire to bring more resources to the scene.

The fire was placed under control at 2:08pm, shortly after arriving on the scene.

According to the NYPD, a woman and child were rescued from a balcony by FDNY firefighters.

At least two people have sustained unknown injuries relating to the fire.
