Westbury Man Arrested After Injuring 5 Police Officers

A Westbury man was arrested on Saturday morning after resisting arrest and injuring five Nassau County Police officers in Westbury, New York.

Nassau County Police responded to the residence of Cristhofer Peralta Liriano, 22, on Bowling Green Drive early Saturday morning at 8:45AM for reports of a disturbance.

According to Nassau County Police, after an investigation, the man began to fight with the police officers on the scene when they attempted to take him into custody. Liriano continued to resist the arrest and fight with police.

It was at that point where Nassau County Police used an “Electrical Control Device”, more commonly known as a taser, to control the Westbury man. After using the taser on Liriano, police were able to take him into custody.

Five police officers were injured during the arrest, according to police investigators. One officer suffered injuries to his shoulders, hands, back and neck. Another officer suffered a laceration to his forehead, requiring multiple stitches to close it, along with other lacerations to his face and head.

The remaining injured police officers suffered laceration injuries to their faces and bodies as a result of Liriano fighting with them.

Liriano is charged with Criminal Contempt in the 2nd Degree, Petit Larceny, Resisting Arrest, five counts of Assault in the 2nd Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The defendant was arraigned on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at the First District Court in Hempstead, New York.
