2-Alarm Pittsburgh Fire Kills Man
A man was killed in a 2-alarm blaze in Pittsburgh’s South Side neighborhood early Saturday morning after paramedics worked to save his life.
Just before 5:30AM, a 911 call was placed reporting a fire at the 1100 block of East Carson Street in South Side. Firefighters and paramedics arrived on the scene to find flames shooting out of the front of the building, which has a bar on the first floor and two stories of apartments above it.
Firefighters entered the burning building and were able to pull a man out. First responders immediately rushed over and began life-saving measures on the victim. Paramedics could be seen on the scene performing CPR on the victim shortly after removing him from the burning building. The unidentified man died from his injuries after being taken off life support on Sunday.
It was confirmed by the City of Pittsburgh Fire Chief Darryl Jones that the man pulled from the building was taken to a local area hospital in critical condition.
Two dogs were also reportedly killed in the blaze, according to sources from the scene.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway by fire investigators.
