According to witnesses at the scene, Town of Oyster Bay Public Safety were the first on the scene immediately after the crash. Witnesses say a man jumped in the water in an effort to try and pull the driver from the car. After attempting to reach the driver, the vehicle submerged to a point where the good samaritan had to come back above the water. The Public Safety Department includes Public Safety Officers and Bay Constables, according to residents of the town. Both of which assisted with pulling the good samaritan out of the cold water.
