Upper East Side Four Alarm Blaze Injures 4 Firefighters
A four-alarm fire in a restaurant injured 4 firefighters early Tuesday morning in the Upper East Side of New York City.
Firefighters responded to 1843 1st Ave in the Upper East Side neighborhood of Manhattan for a report of a fire in a building just after 5AM.
When fire crews arrived on scene, it was determined that the fire was in the first floor of the building, which was occupied by a restaurant.
Firefighters at the scene reported that the ceiling between the first floor and second floor of the building collapsed at around 6:30AM. A fourth alarm was raised shortly after the collapse, requesting more resources to the scene.
The fire was placed under control at 8:21AM, but rekindled on the first floor at 11:41AM. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the rekindled fire within a few minutes.
Four firefighters sustained injuries as a result of fighting the intense blaze, but are all reportedly in a stable condition.
There is no word on how the fire started at this time.
