Teenage Bicyclist Struck, Seriously Injured In Mineola Crash

MINEOLA, NY - A 14-year-old bicyclist was struck and seriously injured by an SUV near the intersection of Jericho Turnpike and Mineola Boulevard early Sunday evening.

Police responded to Mineola Boulevard and Jericho Turnpike at around 3:50PM on Sunday evening after a 14-year-old teenager was struck by a red Chevy SUV and thrown approximately 50 feet from where he was struck.

The 14-year-old was transported to Cohen Children’s Medical Center after suffering multiple traumatic injuries, including a head injury. The ambulance was escorted by Nassau County Police Department officers to expedite the response.

The victim was transported to the hospital by Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps with the assistance of a Nassau County Police Emergency Ambulance Bureau medic.

The driver remained at the scene of the crash.
