Tanker Truck Overturns, Narrowly Misses Other Drivers in Long Island Crash
A tanker truck full of cooking oil narrowly missed hitting other vehicles and snapped a utility pole in half before ending up overturned onto its side late Friday night in Syosset, New York.
Police and firefighters responded to the intersection of Jericho Turnpike and Robbins Lane in Syosset, New York at around 10:45PM after a tanker truck overturned. The tanker truck, which was full of 2,000 gallons of cooking oil, was traveling eastbound on Jericho Turnpike before crashing.
The tanker truck narrowly avoided vehicles stopped at a red light in the intersection, only to go up the curb and overturn. According to witnesses, that is when the truck completely snapped a utility pole in half at its base as it came to a stop.
