SUV Snaps Utility Pole, Overturns Onto Sidewalk

EAST MEADOW, NY - A driver was hospitalized after their SUV left the road and collided with a utility pole, snapping it and causing the SUV to overturn on North Jerusalem Road early Sunday morning.

Nassau County Police responded to the intersection of Marion Drive and North Jerusalem Road at about 12:40AM after an SUV was reportedly involved in a single-car crash.

Initially, the driver was reported to be trapped inside the vehicle but was able to be freed by Nassau County Police 1st Precinct officers.

The vehicle allegedly left the road, collided with the utility pole, and overturned onto its roof before coming to a stop on the sidewalk in front of the nearby Nassau BOCES school.

Nassau County Police say that the driver suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to a local area hospital for further treatment.
