Suspect In North Massapequa Murder-Suicide Dies

NORTH MASSAPEQUA, NY - Police confirmed that the 34-year old man responsible for murdering his ex-wife and critically injuring a 22-year old woman has died of his injuries from an attempted suicide.

Nassau County Police confirmed that Vincent Maiolica, 34, died from his injuries on March 14th after his suicide attempt on March 13th. Maiolica attempted to hang himself after stabbing both his ex-wife and a 22-year old woman at a North Manhattan Avenue residence.

Maiolica was in a critical condition after police officers found him hanging in a room of the North Manhattan Avenue home.

Investigators have confirmed that they are investigating the crime as a murder-suicide.

Police have identified the 29-year old woman who died as Irene Spantopangos.

The unidentified 22-year old woman still remains in a critical condition.

According to News12, Spantopangos and Maiolica were separated at the time of the stabbing. News12 says sources informed them that the 22-year old woman was in a relationship with Maiolica.
