Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Train In Hicksville

HICKSVILLE, NY - A person was fatally struck by a train early Wednesday night between New South Road and Old Country Road in Hicksville, New York.

According to the Metropolitan Transit Authority, a person trespassing was struck and killed by an eastbound traveling train, just east of the Hicksville train station at 8:05PM. The train stopped just before crossing the Old Country Road overpass.

The person was pinned under one of the train cars and pronounced dead at the scene by medics.

Service was shut down in both directions between Hicksville and Ronkonkoma for about two hours. The MTA ran shuttle buses between the two stations to assist commuters with avoiding extended delays.

The service was restored at 11:00PM.

Police are currently investigating this incident and the person killed has not been identified yet.
