Shooting at Green Acres Mall Injures Man, Prompts Lockdown

VALLEY STREAM, NY - A Monday afternoon shooting left a man injured and the Green Acres Mall on lockdown as a heavy police presence swarmed the area while searching for the shooter.

Nassau County Police responded to the Green Acres Mall at 2034 Green Acres Mall, Sunrise Hwy in Valley Stream, New York at around 4:30PM after a shot rang out in the Famous Footwear.

A man that was shot in the leg was transported to a local area hospital in a stable condition, according to police.

Nassau County Police Commissioner Ryder said from the scene of the shooting that officers are searching for two male subjects wearing dark-colored clothing. One suspect was seen fleeing with the weapon still in his hand.

A heavy police presence was witnessed at the scene, including police officers in tactical gear with long rifles from the Emergency Service Unit. Police were also seen with their K-9 unit out and the Aviation Unit above searching for the suspect or suspects involved.
