Police Shut Down Major Road to Escort 21-Year Old Shooting Victim

HEMPSTEAD, NY - Police and medics rushed a man to Nassau University Medical Center late Tuesday night after he was shot in Hempstead, New York.

Hempstead Police responded near the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and South Franklin Street in Hempstead, New York at around 8:30PM after a shooting was reported. Upon arriving on the scene, police officers determined a 21-year old man was shot in the arm.

Emergency medical crews at the scene rushed to transport the victim to the hospital. The Nassau County Police 1st Precinct assisted with shutting down intersections of Hempstead Turnpike to quickly get the victim transported to the emergency room of Nassau University Medical Center.

Police are currently investigating the events that led up to the shooting and searching for the suspects who fled the scene. There is no word on the status of the victim.
