The Nassau County Police Department is investigating the events that led up to a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway early Monday evening in Syosset, New York.

At around 5:20pm on Monday evening, the Nassau County Police Highway Patrol responded to the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway between exits 14E and 13W for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on the highway. The Nassau County Police Department has not released any further information on this incident, but it is likely to be connected to an incident that occurred in a nearby Syosset neighborhood that borders Route 135.

The Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway was temporarily closed northbound and southbound while Nassau County Police landed their helicopter to airlift the victim to a nearby trauma center due to the extent of the injuries.

The condition of the victim is currently unknown.

Route 135 has now been opened in both directions without any delays.
