Pedestrian Recovering After Being Struck by Train

Emergency crews responded to rescue a pedestrian after they were struck by a St. George bound train in Staten Island Saturday night.

At approximately 7:45pm Saturday night. in the Oakwood Heights section of Staten Island, the Metropolitan Transit Authority Police, along with NYPD and FDNY were on scene of a pedestrian who was struck by a St. George Bound train at the Oakwood Heights Station. 

According to the NYPD, the victim was alert and conscious at the time that emergency services made contact with them. FDNY removed the victim from the tracks and evaluated them. The victim was taken by stretcher into an ambulance and transported to Staten Island University Hospital North, with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Trains in both directions were delayed for about an hour, as police investigated the scene.

Details regarding the circumstances leading up to the pedestrian being struck by the train are currently being investigated by the police.
