Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car on Major Long Island Road
A pedestrian was killed while walking across Hempstead Turnpike in Bethpage, New York late Monday evening.
At around 9:17pm, Nassau County Police and the Bethpage Fire Department responded to Hempstead Turnpike in the eastbound lanes, just west of Stewart Avenue, for a pedestrian that was struck by a car and seriously injured. After arriving on the scene, police officers discovered the unidentified pedestrian to be in traumatic arrest.
Emergency crews on the scene started CPR and other life saving measures. After an attempt to save the victim’s life, CPR was stopped and the pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene of the collision two minutes after starting.
Police are currently investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision that took the life of a pedestrian on Labor Day.
