Off-Duty Suffolk County Cop Killed In Single Vehicle Crash

An off-duty Suffolk County Police Officer was killed in a single vehicle crash on Nicolls Road in Selden, New York early Monday morning.

Suffolk County Police say Police Officer Vincent Pelliccio, a 7 year veteran of the police department, was traveling on Nicolls Road near West Road when his 2021 Jeep left the roadway and crashed at around 12:40AM.

The 30-year old police officer was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police Officer Pelliccio was working in the Suffolk County Police Department’s Third Precinct and has been a member of the department since December 2014.

Pelliccio, who battled cancer and returned to the department in 2019, recieved the Theodore Roosevelt Police Award for showing courage and a returning to work quickly after recovering from cancer in 2018.

According to reports from the scene, Pelliccio’s Jeep flipped multiple times before landing in the center median of Nicolls Road in Selden, New York, which reportedly resulted in serious injuries.
