Merrick Bank Robbery Causes Schools to Lockdown

Nassau County Police are investigating a bank robbery that caused multiple schools in the area to go on lockdown early Monday afternoon in Merrick, New York.

Police responded to the Sterling National Bank located near Merrick Road and Hewlett Avenue for a reported bank robbery at around 11AM. A police helicopter was called to search for the suspect involved.

The robbery prompted Merrick schools and one private school in Bellmore to lockdown as a precaution. As of 12:30PM, Bellmore and Merrick schools have lifted their lockdown.

The investigation is currently ongoing and details are still being confirmed by the Nassau County Police Department.
