Motorcyclist Dead After Fatal Lindenhurst Crash

A motorcyclist has been killed after a colliding with a car in Lindenhurst, New York late Thursday night.

Suffolk County Police responded to the intersection of N Wellwood Avenue and Oxford Street for a motorcycle involved traffic collision at around 9:30pm. After arriving on the scene, crews on the scene requested an expedited response for an ambulance due to the severity of the motorcyclist’s injuries.

The Suffolk County Police Department put a helicopter on standby to airlift the victim from the scene, but was canceled after crews decided to transport the victim on the ground to a local trauma center.

Police are currently investigating the cause of the collision.

N Wellwood Avenue remains shut down between 44th Street and New York Avenue for a police investigation.
