Massive Fire Destroys Long Island Limousine Business
EAST FARMINGDALE, NY - Firefighters battled an intense commercial fire on Allen Boulevard in East Farmingdale as flames exploded through the roof of Cruise Control Limousines. The blaze on Monday evening took over two hours to finally get under control.
A thick column of heavy black smoke pillared into the air over the industrial section of East Farmingdale as firefighters arrived on scene at 65 Allen Blvd, Farmingdale, NY 11735 around 5:00PM on Monday evening. Fire crews were immediately met with heavy smoke and flames inside of the Cruise Control Limousines building near the intersection of Allen Boulevard and Belvedere Avenue.
Cruise Control Limousines is a limo and trolley service for weddings and other special events. The business is family-operated and has been servicing Long Island since 1988.
According to the company’s fundraising post on GoFundMe, an employee noticed the smoke in the building as the fire intensified and was forced to quickly evacuate the other employees. Within only minutes, the office inside the building was fully engulfed in flames.
Fire crews switched to exterior operations as the fire’s intensity continued to increase, forcing all firefighters to stay outside the building and utilize tower ladders to knock down the flames.
Firefighters from the South Farmingdale Fire Department, Farmingdale Fire Department, North Lindenhurst Fire Department, North Amityville Fire Company, Amityville Fire Department, West Babylon Fire Department, and Wyandanch Fire Company all responded to assist the East Farmingdale Fire Company with battling the stubborn, intense fire.
According to officials, one firefighter suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation at this time.
