Man Shot In Oceanside Smoke Shop Robbery

OCEANSIDE, NY - A smoke shop employee was shot in the chest during an apparent armed robbery in an Oceanside smoke shop late Sunday afternoon.

Nassau County Police responded to Da Smoke Spot, located at 230 Merrick Road in Oceanside, New York at around 3:20PM after a man walked in and confronted the 26-year old employee.

Investigators say the confrontation led to the suspect pulling out a handgun and firing two times at the employee. The employee was struck once in the chest and the suspect fled from the store.

The victim was transported to a local area hospital in a stable condition as a result of the shooting.

According to police, the suspect is described as a male, approximately 5’9” tall, with a light complexion. At the time of the shooting, the suspect was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, a baseball hat, and had a black mask covering his face. The suspect was also carrying a black/red duffle bag on his shoulder and a second black bag across his chest.
