Man Arrested After Hitting Multiple Parked Cars, Fleeing In Upper East Side
MANHATTAN, NY - A man was arrested after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash involving multiple parked cars on East 73rd Street near York Avenue in the Upper East Side late Saturday morning.
At around 9:50AM on Saturday morning, FDNY personnel were responding to a report of smoke inside a building at 405 E 73rd Street in the Upper East Side section of Manhattan when they came across a traffic collision involving a Jeep that struck multiple parked cars near the intersection of York Avenue and East 73rd Street.
NYPD says that the driver, who is currently unidentified, fled the scene of the crash on foot. Police officers located the suspect in the area minutes later and arrested him. It was not made clear what he is charged with at this time.
At least three vehicles were damaged, including a bus used by the Ronald McDonald House charity. The vehicles were unoccupied, according to witnesses.
The suspect was evaluated by FDNY EMS at the scene of the crash. There were no reported injuries in this crash.
