Lindenhurst Streets Inundated With Water By Coastal Flooding

LINDENHURST, NY - Water from coastal flooding impacted multiple roads south of Montauk Highway as a nor’easter brought wind and rain to the area late Friday afternoon.

Shore Road was one of a few streets inundated with water from coastal flooding caused by a nor’easter impacting the Long Island area. With the high tide coming in on Friday afternoon, some low-lying areas experienced waters as high as one to two feet covering neighborhood streets.

Residents living south of Montauk Highway found it difficult to return home due to some flooded streets. For most areas, the flooding was passable for SUVs and trucks. Some sedan drivers chose not to enter the flood waters and to find an alternative way home.

The flooding mainly occurred near canals and along the Great South Bay.

There have not been any injuries or water rescues reported as a result of the flooding at the time of publication for this article.
