Nor’easter Brings Coastal Flooding To East Massapequa

EAST MASSAPEQUA, NY - Water from coastal flooding inundated multiple roads south of Merrick Road late Friday afternoon as the high tide rolled in.

Alongside the rain, wind allowed for the impacts of coastal flooding to be felt by many south shore Long Island communities on Friday afternoon as the high tide came in.

Water inundated Clocks Boulevard near the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue in East Massapequa causing disruptions to residents trying to return to their homes.

In addition to Clocks Boulevard, many other streets in low-lying areas experienced flooding from the nor’easter.

Officials from the Town of Oyster Bay were seen surveying the flooding.

The National Weather Service previously issued a Coastal Flood Statement outlining that low-lying areas could be inundated by nearly 1-2 feet of water as high tide arrived at around 3:15PM on Friday.

There have not been any reported injuries or water rescues in the area as a result of the flooding at the time of publication for this article.
