Hit and Run Driver Seriously Injures Woman Crossing Rockville Centre Road

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY - Police responded to Sunrise Highway at North Village Avenue on Wednesday afternoon after a woman was struck and seriously injured by a driver that fled the scene.

Rockville Centre Police were notified of a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Sunrise Highway and North Village Avenue at around 12:45PM on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers arrived on scene and found a woman who sustained serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle. That vehicle took off from the scene, leaving the seriously injured woman lying in the roadway.

Northwell Health EMS responded and provided aid to the victim at the scene. The woman reportedly sustained injuries to her hands and head as a result.

The ambulance was escorted to a local area hospital by police officers to quickly expedite the response time in rush hour traffic.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
