Head-On Crash Leaves At Least 4 People Hurt, 2 Heavily Trapped
Multiple emergency crews worked to free at least two people pinned inside cars after a head-on crash in Melville, New York late Saturday night.
Firefighters and EMTs from both the Melville and Wyandanch Fire Departments responded to the intersection of Colonial Springs Road and Little East Neck Road on the border of Melville and Wyandanch for a report of a serious car accident last night around 8:45PM on Saturday night.
When first responders arrived on the scene, they found two people heavily pinned inside the vehicles involved in the crash. Firefighters had to deploy the “jaws of life” and spreaders to help free the trapped people.
At least two people were transported to local area hospitals in an unknown condition. Witnesses say there were at least four victims involved in the crash, two of which were not trapped in either vehicle.
The Suffolk County Police Department is currently investigating the cause of the crash at this time. It is believed there will be no criminality involved as a result of this crash.
According to the Suffolk County Police Department, all victims involved were not seriously injured.
