Firefighter Hurt, House Destroyed In Tarentum Fire

TARENTUM, PA - A firefighter was injured while working to battle an intense fire that left a home on W 11th Street completely destroyed early Monday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the home on W 11th Street just before 12PM on Monday after a fire broke out. The house became well-involved with fire and partially collapsed due to the intensity of the blaze.

According to sources from the scene, a firefighter at one point got stuck in one of the fire trucks, prompting crews to extricate them from the truck. The firefighter was transported from the scene in a stable condition and is recovering.

An excavator was called to the scene to assist the fire department with extinguishing “hot spots”, better known as little pockets of fire that remain throughout the house after the main fire was extinguished.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
