GRAPHIC: 65-Year Old Man’s Leg Severed In Elmont Tow Truck Hit and Run
ELMONT, NY - Police responded to a pedestrian struck by a tow truck that fled the scene on Linden Boulevard late Sunday night. Police arrested the tow truck driver shortly after the collision.
Nassau County Police officials say that the victim was attempting to cross Linden Boulevard near the intersection of 237th Street in Elmont, New York at around 10:48PM when he was struck and seriously injured by a Hino flatbed tow truck. The driver of that truck fled the scene, leaving the victim critically injured and lying in the road.

Police confirmed that 6th Precinct officers who responded to the scene found the man with his left leg completely severed from below the knee. Responding officers applied tourniquets to the man and controlled the bleeding. A large puddle of blood and medical gloves were able to be seen at the site where officers provided life-saving care.
The victim was transported to the hospital in a critical, but stable condition, according to police.
The driver, Ibrahim Elfiqi, 20, of Queens, was arrested after a thorough investigation by Nassau County Police. Elfiqi is charged with leaving the scene of an auto accident with a serious injury. He was arraigned Monday at the First District Court in Hempstead, New York.
