2 Officers Injured After Intoxicated Man Attacks Girlfriend In Hicksville

HICKSVILLE. NY - Two Nassau County Police officers were injured after being attacked by an intoxicated Farmingdale man during a domestic disturbance on Sunday afternoon on South Oyster Bay Road.

Nassau County Police officers responded to a residence on South Oyster Bay Road at around 1:15PM on Sunday afternoon after Salvatore Alani. 26, was involved in a fight with his girlfriend. The girlfriend called 911 after Alani hurt her during the fight.

Officers arriving on scene were informed that Alani broke the television in the home and was drunk before he fled the scene on foot. Police officers found Alani in the area and confronted him. Police say that’s when he began fighting with the officers that attempted to place him under arrest.

Alani refused to comply with orders given by the police and spit in one police officer’s face. After the struggle, he was taken into custody and transported to a local area hospital for an evaluation.

Two police officers were also taken to local area hospitals after sustaining injuries from the struggle with Alani. The victim of the domestic disturbance refused medical treatment.

Police confirmed that Alani was in violation of a protective order involving his girlfriend, in addition to the combative and aggressive behavior.

Alani is charged with two counts of 2nd Degree Assault, 1st and 2nd Degree Criminal Contempt, 4th Degree Criminal Mischief, 2nd Degree Harassment, Disorderly Conduct, 2nd Degree Obstructing Governmental Administration and Resisting Arrest. Alani will be arraigned following his medical treatment at a later date.
