Drunk Tow Truck Driver Kills 1, Injures 2 In Long Island Crash

A drunk tow truck driver caused a fatal crash that killed one person and injured two more in East Garden City, New York late Monday afternoon.

A serious accident that led to the death of a man occurred at 3:53PM in front of 877 Stewart Avenue in East Garden City, New York. Nassau County Police Homicide Squad Detectives say that a red SUV that was being driven by a fifty-four year old female driver was struck by the flatbed tow truck, operated by James Skow, 57, of Westbury. The collision then caused the tow truck to crash into a white van.

The white van, operated by a fifty-seven year old man, was pronounced dead at the scene by officials.

The driver of the red SUV and one passenger were transported to a local hospital to be further evaluated and treated for their injuries.

Skow was arrested on charges of Driving While Intoxicated, Vehicular Manslaughter in the 2nd Degree, and Manslaughter 2nd Degree. James Skow was arraigned in the First District Court in Hempstead, New York on Tuesday, November 9, 2021.
