Racing Drivers Cause Multi-Car Belt Parkway Crash Involving Police Car

LINDENWOOD, QUEENS, NY - Two allegedly racing drivers caused a multiple-vehicle crash in the westbound lanes of the Belt Parkway late Wednesday night.

Just before 11:00PM, NYPD responded to a multiple-vehicle crash in the westbound lanes of the Belt Parkway just west of the Cross Bay Boulevard exit.

Two vehicles racing through traffic collided with both the NYPD police cruiser and a second civilian vehicle. According to a witness of the events leading up to the crash, it appeared that one of the vehicles involved was taunting an NYPD unmarked Dodge Durango police car by “brake checking” it, causing the multiple vehicles to collide.

The crash snarled traffic and caused heavy delays on the Belt Parkway. It is unclear if there were any injuries or if anybody was transported to the hospital from the scene.

Although unconfirmed, according to witnesses, both drivers were possibly arrested at the scene of the crash. It is unclear at this time what charges were brought against them.
