Arsonists Sought After Throwing Molotov Cocktails At Lindenhurst Home
LINDENHURST, NY - Police are searching for two suspects who threw molotov cocktails at a home on the corner of E Gates Avenue and South Smith Street early Friday morning and fled through the Alleghany Avenue Elementary School yard.
Suffolk County Police and the Lindenhurst Fire Department received calls for a report of molotov cocktails that were ignited and thrown at a house on the corner of E Gates Avenue and South Smith Street just before 12:15AM.
Police arrived on scene and found one bottle broken and on actively on fire in the driveway. The fire was extinguished by a homeowner, good samaritan, and the Suffolk County Police officer.
According to witnesses, two suspects fled on foot after jumping a fence and entering the field of the Alleghany Avenue Elementary School, located at 250 S Alleghany Ave, Lindenhurst, NY 11757.
Police brought in a K-9 unit to assist in the search for the suspects. Multiple police officers searched the neighborhood for the suspects and any evidence they might have left behind.
A crime scene was established after the failed arson attempt. A Fire Marshal and Suffolk County Arson investigator were also at the scene.
At the time of publication, there is no description of the suspects that was readily available from Suffolk County Police.
