2 Injured In Bethpage Head-On Crash

BETHPAGE, NY - Two people were injured, one seriously, when a vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and struck an SUV stopped at a traffic light on Stewart Avenue at Hempstead Turnpike early Sunday evening.

At 4:54PM, Nassau County Police responded to the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike and Stewart Avenue in Bethpage after a head-on crash left a driver seriously injured.

Police say that a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek was driving northbound on Stewart Avenue when it crossed into the southbound lanes and crashed head-on with a 2009 Kia Sorrento stopped in traffic at the traffic light.

The male driver of the Subaru suffered a serious head injury and was transported to a local area hospital. The driver of the Kia suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local area hospital.

Police are continuing their investigation into this crash. The Subaru was impounded for safety checks.
