Contractors Stab Father, Son At Their Copiague Home During Altercation

COPIAGUE, NEW YORK - A father and son were stabbed by two contractors that were working at their house on 44th Street early Wednesday evening after an altercation sparked. Both contractors were arrested at a nearby gas station.

A knife could be seen laying in the street in front of the victims’ home on 44th Street near Pacific Street in Copiague, New York on Wednesday evening after a dispute between a father and his son, who were working as contractors at the home, and a homeowner and his son erupted into violence.

Suffolk County Police Department 1st Precinct officers responded to 44th Street at around 5:30PM on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 after there were reports of multiple people stabbed at the location. Police officers arrived on scene and confirmed that a 34-year-old father and his 16-year-old son were stabbed during the altercation.

Both the father and son suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, according to Suffolk County Police. Medical equipment from first responders could still be seen chaotically scattered around the crime scene after EMS personnel worked hard to save the lives of both victims.

The contractors, who were identified by police as Selvin Mills, 50 and Savion Mills, 19, both residing in Deer Park, New York, got into their work van and fled the scene. According to officials, the contractors called 911 to report the incident from the Valero gas station, located at 3359 Great Neck Rd, Amityville, NY 11701.

Both Selvin and Savion Mills were arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

They were held overnight and are scheduled to be arraigned at the First District Court in Central Islip, New York on June 8th.

It was not made clear by investigators what the dispute was about.
