Car Smashes Into Copiague Business, Causes Gas Leak

COPIAGUE, NY - A car crashed into the side of a Copiague business late Thursday night on Bethpage Road, causing a gas leak and delays in the area.

Fire crews responded to the intersection of Bethpage Road and Lincoln Street in Copiague, New York just before 10:30PM on Thursday night after reports that a car crashed into the side of a building.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found a sedan that smashed into the side of a restaurant equipment business on Bethpage Road. The sedan, which sustained major damage, collided with a gas meter on the side of the building. The collision caused a steady gas leak and required utility crews to respond.

Bethpage Road was closed in the area while crews worked to get the scene under control.

It is unknown if there were any injuries in this crash at this time. The cause of the crash is unknown.
