19-Year Old Shot Multiple Times In Deer Park Drive-By Shooting

DEER PARK, NY - Investigators are working hard to find a motive after a 19-year old was shot multiple times while riding in a car at the intersection of Bayshore Road and Commack Road early Thursday night.

Suffolk County Police are investigating a shooting that occurred around 9:45PM near the intersection of Bayshore Road and Commack Road.

Investigators say that the 19-year old passenger was riding in a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu when he was shot. Witnesses at the scene say another vehicle pulled up next to the sedan and began opening fire.

Police officers were able to locate the victim inside the Chevy sedan on Wilson Avenue, just up the road from where the shooting occurred.

The victim was transported to a local area hospital with serious injuries, according to police.

Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison said that has been a 200% increase in shootings from this year alone.

The shooting is currently under investigation and it is unclear what led to the shots being fired at this time.
