Car Fire Sparks Brush Fire Near Old Bethpage Village Restoration

OLD BETHPAGE, NY - A car fire sparked a brush fire on the hillside along Bethpage-Sweet Hollow Road near the Old Bethpage Village Restoration late Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters from the Plainview Fire Department and Melville Fire Department responded to a fully involved car fire on the shoulder of Bethpage-Sweet Hollow Road in Old Bethpage at around 1:20PM on Thursday afternoon.

Fire crews arrived on scene and found the vehicle completely involved in flames and actively spreading to brush on a hillside north of the road.

Firefighters were able to battle the flames and prevent the brush fire from spreading deep into the wooded area.

There were no injuries reported as a result of this fire.
