Cafe Damaged In “Suspicious” Shopping Center Fire

SOUTH FARMINGDALE, NY - Café La Bella Note was badly damaged from a fire that sparked late Tuesday night inside a mini shopping center on Merritts Road.

Nassau County Police and the South Farmingdale Fire Department responded to 180 Merritts Rd, South Farmingdale, NY 11735 at around 9:35PM on Tuesday for a report of a fire inside a commercial building.

Firefighters arrived on scene to smoke pouring from the mini strip mall. Multiple departments were requested to assist the South Farmingdale Fire Department at the scene.

The fire was brought under control by firefighters at around 10:20PM.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office announced on Wednesday afternoon that the cause of the fire has been determined suspicious. The Fire Marshal’s office is working with the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office and the NCPD 8th Precinct detectives to further their investigation.
