Body Found After Garage Fire At Vacant Hempstead Home

HEMPSTEAD, NY - A fire broke out in a detached garage on the property of a vacant home on Albemarle Avenue on Saturday evening, leading firefighters to make an alarming discovery inside.

Shortly after 6:30PM, a fire in a detached garage on a vacant home’s property was reported after neighbors saw fire coming from the property on Albemarle Avenue between Henry Street and Nostrand Place in Hempstead, New York.

After firefighters battled the fire in the two-car garage, the body of a man was discovered inside the structure towards the rear. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.

Homicide and Arson Bomb Squad detectives, along with the Nassau County Fire Marshals, are currently investigating the cause of the fire.

The identity of the victim has not been released due to an active investigation.
