Wrong-Way Drunk Driver Kills Two 14-Year-Old Boys In Horrific Long Island Crash

JERICHO, NY - A drunk driver is facing a slew of charges, including vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated, after causing a horrific wrong-way crash on North Broadway late Wednesday night that claimed the lives of two 14-year-old boys.

Just before 10:30PM on Wednesday night, police say that 34-year-old Amandeep Singh, of Roslyn, New York was driving against traffic in a red Dodge Ram pickup truck when he collided with an Alfa Romeo that had four teenagers inside.

After Singh collided with the Alfa Romeo, their car struck a Volvo that had a woman and a teenager inside. The occupants of the Volvo were treated for minor injuries, according to officials.

Two 14-year-old boys that were inside the Alfa Romeo were pronounced dead following the reported high-speed head-on crash. The other two teenagers, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, inside the vehicle were transported to local area hospitals with internal injuries, but are now in a stable condition, according to officials.

The two 14-year-old boys that were killed in the tragic crash were students at the Roslyn Middle School, according to the principal in a note that was sent to parents on Thursday. One of the victims was a nationally ranked and highly skilled tennis player that played on the high school’s varsity team despite only being in middle school. The four teens in the car were possibly headed home from a dinner celebrating a victory in a tennis championship when the crash occurred.

Authorities say that Amandeep Singh was arrested and treated for only minor injuries. According to multiple witnesses of the crash, Singh fled the scene of the fatal crash and was hiding behind stores in the Jericho Commons shopping center when police officers found him.

Singh is now facing charges of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, Vehicular Manslaughter 1st Degree, Manslaughter 2nd Degree, Leaving the Scene of an Auto Accident with a Fatality, DWI, and two counts of Assault 2nd degree.

He is set to be arraigned at the First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday.
