8 Hospitalized, Including Infant In Serious Southern State Parkway Crash On Long Island

A three car crash on the Southern State Parkway in Franklin Square, New York sent 8 people to the hospital, including an infant early Sunday morning.

Nassau County Police and a local fire department responded to the Southern State Parkway near Exit 16 going west after a serious crash involving three vehicles was reported. When first responders arrived on scene, they reported that at least three people were trapped inside of a vehicle at the scene.

The Malverne Fire Department was able to cut all three of the trapped victims out of the vehicle, one of which was reportedly “heavily pinned” according to crews.

Due to the large number of victims, Nassau County Police ambulances were requested to respond from surrounding precincts to assist with transporting the injured to local hospitals.

A total of 8 people were transported to various hospitals in the area as a result of their injuries from the crash. According to sources at the scene, four people were transported with serious injuries, three people were transported with minor injuries, and one person was transported with unknown injuries. Among the injured was an infant that was involved in the crash whose condition is currently unknown.
