4 Injured In Fiery Syosset Crash

SYOSSET, NY - Firefighters responded to a crash that left four people hurt and sparked a fire that involved both vehicles in flames at South Oyster Bay Road and North Service Road early Friday morning.

The Syosset Fire Department and Nassau County Police Department responded at 8:44AM to the intersection of South Oyster Bay Road and North Service Road in Syosset for a traffic collision with a vehicle fire involved.

Responding units were able to see a column of smoke visible in the air from a distance away. When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a Subaru that was well-involved with fire and extending to a work van that was also involved in the crash.

The fire was extinguished and four people were transported to local area hospitals for injuries suffered from the crash.

It is believed that malfunctioning traffic lights due to an area power outage were possibly the cause of this crash. Traffic lights could be seen flashing red and yellow in the intersection as emergency services operated on the scene.
