2 Ejected, 1 Dead After SUV Flips Several Times in West Babylon

Two men were ejected, one was killed after an SUV flipped several times early Sunday afternoon in West Babylon, New York.

Police responded to the scene of the single car crash on Wellwood Avenue in front of St. Charles/Resurrection Cemeteries at around 2pm Sunday afternoon. The SUV lost control, left the roadway, and flipped multiple times before landing back on its wheels. Both occupants were thrown from the vehicle while it was rolling.

Dennis Markey, 47, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in a critical condition, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Marcus Pitts, 35, was airlifted from the scene in a critical condition to Stony Brook University Medical Center.

The SUV, traveling southbound on Wellwood Avenue, crashed through a fence, then started to roll multiple times before crashing through the same fence and landing on the original side again.

Police are currently investigating the circumstances that led up to the fatal crash.
