$10,000 Taken From Commack Bank In Brazen Robbery

COMMACK, NY - A brazen daylight robbery in a busy shopping center resulted in $10,000 being taken from the Teacher’s Federal Credit Union.

Suffolk County Police Department 4th Precinct officers responded to the Teacher’s Federal Credit Union located at 10 Vanderbilt Pkwy and confirmed a bank robbery around 11:30AM on Saturday afternoon.

According to police, the suspect entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. The suspect is described as a white man who was wearing women’s clothing, makeup, and dark wig at the time of the robbery.

Police say that the suspect fled the scene in a grey minivan.

Suffolk County Police released that they have arrested a man for robbing the Commack bank on October 8, 2022.

Following an investigation, Major Case Unit detectives arrested George Swanton at 300 Bay Shore Road, Bay Shore at 1:41 a.m. on October 10.

Swanton, 62, of 2 Dale Drive, Oakdale, was charged with Robbery 3rd Degree and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree. He is being held at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
