1 Hospitalized In Hempstead Apartment Complex Fire

HEMPSTEAD, NY - One person was hospitalized from smoke inhalation after a fire broke out inside the New Haven Place apartments on Fulton Avenue late Tuesday night.

Just after 11:00PM on Wednesday night, Hempstead Police Department and Hempstead Fire Department responded to the New Haven Place apartment complex at 451 Fulton Avenue, Hempstead, NY 11550 for an apartment fire on the fifth floor of the six-floor complex.

Police officers and firefighters arrived on scene and confirmed that there was an active fire in an apartment.

The West Hempstead, Baldwin, South Hempstead, Uniondale, and Lakeview Fire Departments were some of the departments called to the scene to assist with fighting the blaze.

The fire was knocked down at around 11:30PM.

No firefighters were injured while fighting the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
