Police Officers Rescue 5 Trapped People, Dog From Burning North Lindenhurst Home
NORTH LINDENHURST, NY - Quick-thinking police officers sprung into action and rescued two adults, three children, and a dog from a house fire on 45th Street early Saturday morning.
The fire sparked inside the home on 45th Street, just east of Sunrise Highway, at 2:08AM on Saturday morning. According to police, Suffolk County First Precinct police officers in an unmarked car jumped into action and rushed to the scene after being nearby.
When the officers arrived on scene they were met with flames and smoke pouring from the residence. Officers located a ladder in the backyard and climbed up to the second floor of the house to rescue the trapped occupants.
Three children, two adults, and one dog were all safely rescued from the flames as they began to spread throughout the home.
A downstairs tenant was able to escape the flames while on the ground floor of the two-family home.
A large volume of fire swept through the front of the house and into the second floor and attic as firefighters battled the blaze.
The North Lindenhurst Fire Department extinguished the fire with the assistance of the Lindenhurst, West Babylon, and Copiague Fire Departments.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been created for the victims of the fire. According to the fundraiser page, the family tragically lost everything. Clothing and household items are also being accepted instead of monetary donations.
