Vehicle Fire Threatening Lindenhurst Business Extinguished By Firefighters

LINDENHURST, NEW YORK - A potentially destructive situation was avoided after a vehicle fire threatened to spread to a telecommunications equipment supplier on Montauk Highway. The fire was quickly knocked down by firefighters from the Copiague Fire Department on Saturday afternoon before it could extend to the Lindenhurst business.

At around 2:25 PM on Saturday, July 1, 2023, the Copiague Fire Department was alerted to respond to SST Communications, located at 597 W Montauk Hwy, Lindenhurst, New York 11757 after 911 calls reported a vehicle fire that was burning dangerously close to the side of the building.

Video footage depicting the early stages of the incident captured the moment the fire department arrived on the scene. Without hesitation, the firefighters sprang into action to contain and extinguish the blaze, preventing it from spreading into the telecommunications equipment supplier's office. Flames were seen erupting from the engine compartment of the Range Rover SUV as the firefighters deployed their hoses and directed a steady stream of water onto the fire in an effort to stop the flames from spreading.

Despite the fierce intensity of the fire, the firefighters from the Copiague Fire Department successfully and swiftly brought the vehicle fire under control.

There were no injuries reported in this incident.

Traffic was temporarily affected on Montauk Highway while the fire crews worked to extinguish the flames. Montauk Highway has since been reopened and traffic has resumed to normal.
