Unconscious Worker Rescued From Industrial Hopper, Airlifted to Hospital In East Farmingdale

EAST FARMINGDALE, NY - A worker was rescued after falling into an industrial hopper at a concrete manufacturing business early Thursday afternoon.

At 11:53AM, the East Farmingdale Volunteer Fire Company was notified for a technical rescue call at Red Rock Precast, located at 1634 New Highway, Farmingdale, NY.

The Town of Babylon Technical Rescue Team was requested and responded to extricate the man from the industrial equipment. According to the East Farmingdale Volunteer Fire Company, the worker had fallen approximately 8 feet into a hopper that was suspended nearly 15 feet in the air. The worker was unconscious after falling into the hopper.

Members of the East Farmingdale Volunteer Fire Company stabilized the injured worker and transported him to the Republic Airport, where he was airlifted to a hospital by a Suffolk County Police Department helicopter.

The Amityville Fire Department, West Babylon Fire Department, and Republic Airport Crash Fire Rescue all assisted with getting the injured man transported to the hospital urgently.
