Parents, Children Rally To Protest Mask Mandates For Students In Massapequa

MASSAPEQUA, NY - Parents, students, and teachers gathered at John J. Burns Park early Sunday afternoon to protest against the mask mandates for students by Governor Hochul.

A large group full of students, parents, and even some teachers gathered at John J. Burns Park in Massapequa, New York at 1PM to rally against Governor Hocul’s continued mandates for students to wear masks while attending school.

The loud chants of “Unmask Us” drowned out the traffic of the nearby Merrick Road while parents and their children demonstrated against the mandate.

The rally comes after the Centers for Disease Control gave schools the green light for being able to drop the mask mandates that were set in place to attempt to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“Our son came to us and asked to join in on the rally. When your child comes to you complaining about the masks, you know something needs to change.” said one parent while attending the rally.

Governor Hochul announced in a press conference proceeding the rally that the statewide mask mandate in schools will be lifted on March 2, 2022.
